Recorde de Demon Slayer Quebrado por Novo Filme de Anime com 59 Exibições em 1 Dia

O novo filme de Detective Conan supera recorde de exibições de Demon Slayer em seu dia de estreia no Japão.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba ‘s first feature film, Mugen Train , is a groundbreaking blockbuster that stands alongside Infinity Castle as one of Japan’s highest-grossing anime of all time. However, a ’90s anime icon frequently overlooked by Western viewers has now broken a major screening record once held by Ufotable’s cinematic titan.

Per Oricon, Japan recently released the official screening schedule for Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway , the 29th animated film in the Detective Conan (alternatively known as Case Closed ) franchise.

Since the film is set in Yokohama Prefecture, Japan’s T-Joy Yokohama movie theater has opted to honor Detective Conan with 59 screenings on opening day — an “unprecedented” number for any anime feature, including Mugen Train . On its own opening day, the latter anime film was screened a grand total of 42 times while playing at Toho Cinemas Shinjuku.

Detective Conan: Case Closed Surpasses a Major Demon Slayer Movie Record in 2026

Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway is scheduled to premiere in Japan on April 10, 2026 (JST). In addition to an early midnight screening, T-Joy Yokohama has slated the feature for 50 traditional screenings and 8 Dolby Cinemas screenings. Additionally, Toho Cinemas Shinjuku has 44 screenings scheduled for its April 10 debut — two more than Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie – Mugen Train received on its opening day six years earlier.

Detective Conan ‘s theatrical takeover is reflective of the franchise’s fan-favorite status among moviegoers in Japan. The anime’s main production house, TMS Entertainment, has released at least one new feature-length installment since 1997.

Initially released in 1996, the 1,000+ episode Detective Conan anime series chronicles the adventures of Shinichi Kudo, a mystery-solving prodigy who is transformed into a young child while investigating the operations of the enigmatic “Black Organization.” Under the alias Conan Edogawa, Kudo continues his detective work with the help of his girlfriend Ran Mouri and her father, Kogouro Mori.

Detective Conan ‘s previous theatrical installment, One-Eyed Flashback , was released in Japan on April 18, 2025. While competing alongside Demon Slayer ‘s latest cinematic blockbuster, Infinity Castle , Conan earned approximately 14.74 billion yen (~US$92.8M) at the domestic box office by early 2026.

As of January 2026, Infinity Castle has earned roughly 39.14 billion yen (US$246.9M). While Infinity Castle was 2025’s ultimate champion, One-Eyed Flashback still pulled in enough yen to earn itself a place in the multimillion box office club alongside Demon Slayer , Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc and Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution .

Detective Conan: Fallen Angel on the Highway is directed by Takahiro Hasui ( Mob Psycho II ). Oricon briefly summarizes the film’s plot: “When Conan and his friends were visiting the Kanagawa Motorcycle Festival, a mysterious black motorcycle appeared, speeding out of control. Chasing after it was Chihara Hagiwara, a police officer from the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Traffic Mobile Unit, aka “The Goddess of Wind,” whom Ran had seen before…”

A North American theatrical release date has not yet been announced for Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway as of writing. However, the original 1996 Detective Conan anime is available on Netflix and Crunchyroll. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and the anime film Demon Slayer: Mugen Train are both streaming on Crunchyroll.
